JAYCEE Â Â 10 #1 Posted November 2, 2008 I've been reading with interest about small business networking, a lot of people seem keen to attend a networking meetlng, a working lunch if you like, I was with the BNI for a few years and found it very helpful but also a bit demanding and very expensive, what would be good is a meeting that suited all, venue, time, informal but serious and reasonable priced...so lets start one! Trevor286 Â Â 10 #2 Posted November 2, 2008 HI John Costco do a business network meeting about once per month I think. Lot's of the BNI members go along to that. Costco does have a joining fee, but it is good value and refundable under some conditions. LizG2008 Â Â 10 #4 Posted November 3, 2008 If any one is interested in something similar to the post above by Roni the Entreprenures Exchange (another section of BiG) is running a small networking event at 5:30 on 20th Nov at Sorby House. It is going to be run in collaboration with the BME forum but any one is welcome. There will be a few short presentations on what we have achieved so far (no more than about 20 minutes) and then a buffet and the rest of the evening is dedicated to netwokring. It is free of charge but obvioulsy we would love you all to sign up to the Exchange but that is optional. If any one is interested just drop us an e-amil to thebig@be-sy.co.uk for further details and please note in the e-mail that you saw this post. Â Thanks
 Share this content via...
Blacksheep   10 #5 Posted November 4, 2008 I would have liked to attend the BiG meeting but i generally work until very late evening meaning i catch up with admin in the morning at home, so breakfast meetings just don't happen. That is the same with BNI. Who wants to meet at 7.30am?  I would prefer no venue (there is no need to pay for a place, just to a quiet pub on a Monday eve!) I'm not interested in buffets or any catering, just plain networking.  I will be having a look at the one posted by LizG2008 as this sounds just the ticket. nealegibson   10 #6 Posted November 6, 2008 I like the idea of meeting informally out side of working hours, in a pub sounds ideal.
 Share this content via...

TinaE   10 #12 Posted November 19, 2008 Hi I'm a Bank Business Manager and was also a member of BNI in Sheffield and other networking organisations, such as Met Club, Sheffield Business Club and Chamber of Commerce. Any networking opportunities out there are a great way of marketing your business and building lasting relationships to grow your business. Some can prove a bit expensive though such as BNI which demands a lot of time and commitment to see a return. As I particularly specialise in Women in Business I was continually being asked by women for help and support in both setting up in business and running and growing existing business. With over 34 years in banking plus many years running my own business I decided it was time to give something back to entreprenerial women in this city. After much research and with help from other women I have been involved with the development of a unique support network for women here in Sheffield. It is run as a not for profit organisation and has been recently launched and is attracting women who not only want to succeed themselves but are willing to share their expertise to see others flourish in business. Entrepreneurs Ladder meet twice a month and already we are seeing our members win awards for their entreprise and business ideas  Today is national Women in Enterprise day and in celebration of the whole enterprise week Sheffield is hosting the Working Woman Expo 08 this Sunday23rd November at St Pauls Mercure Hotel in Sheffield. IT IS A FREE EVENT. Everyone Welcome. Check out the Working Woman website and click on expo for more details. It's a first for Sheffield, many local businesses are supporting the event including BIG and Sheffield City Council.  and to quote Clr Sylvia Anginotti (Sheffield City Council) "Our policy is that we want Sheffield to be the best place in Europe for women to succeed"
 Share this content via...
