Ross And Brand - How Far Is Too Far?

Recommended Posts

Andrew Sachs is the only party here who has any genuine grievance and he's accepted the apologies graciously. Georgina Baillie just seems to be digging herself a bigger pit by signing up with Max Clifford and selling her story to the Sun.

Because she's being hounded by a posse of hacks and paparazzi and needs advice on how to manage this. She did not ask to be catapulted into the media glare, it's not as if she went running to the tabs with a story about her night of passion (or not so much) with Brand who did Manuel impersonations whilst on the job, before he exposed her private life is it? And now you and others are stating that she is not deserving because of her chosen profession.

Though I doubt Ross would be complicit in him having three months' salary docked, having Brand out of a (admittedly probably relatively minor for him) job, and the resignation of the Radio 2 boss.

I agree, I just threw it in.

Georgina Baillie has a genuine grievance in that details of her private life were made public without her prior consent. Her chosen career is utterly irrelevant to that issue. Whether she's a burlesque artist, porn film actress or cashier at Sainsbury's, she has a right to privacy.

What she chooses to place in the public domain subsequently is an entirely different matter. As soon as her appearance and the details of her employment were made public, people assumed that those negated her right to control her own publicity, and have what she chooses to remain private remain so.

I agree, she has. It annoys me no end that so many people (mostly men) feel that she deserved the treatment she got at the hands of Wossy and Brand because really she's only a slapper, so what can she expect.

Well, I can't blame her for capitalising on her 15 minutes to be honest. She's inadvertantly been given a gift horse. No doubt when Wossy is reinstated on his chat show, she'll be his first guest. For all we know this is a very well orchestrated campaign to get the BBC's ratings up.

Rumour on the danker seedier side of the web has it that the Goldman and Sachs families are close friends, that Baillie was boasting about being mentioned on the radio before the furore kicked off (bearing in mind there was a fairly substantial gap between the original broadcast and the outcry), that the whole thing was a stunt between Baillie and Brand designed to promote The Satanic Sluts.

Who knows what's true and what's not - certainly not me - but I refuse to believe that anyone with serious concerns about their privacy would go to the Sun. If IS her in the porn film, she knew that would come out as a result of her going public. If not, there are loads of softcore images of her on the web that I'm sure she wouldn't like her grandfather knowing about. Again, she KNEW those shots would become widely spread, linked to and blogged about when she went public. Those are not the actions of a woman trying to prevent her grandfather further embarrassment, surely?

Thus I can't take her outrage seriously. Yes, she had a genuine grievance. One that someone who wasn't concerned about a career in modelling/fame/porn/burlesque/whatever would have taken straight to a solicitor.

Me thinks If Ross is ever brought back to the BBC he won't have a chat show, at best he might still have his Film 2009 slot.

The best way is the silent way, however, money talks and so will she.

I do wish that those people that kept protesting about the Brand/Ross witch hunt, would now refrain from their own witch hunt of Ms. Baillie:rolleyes:

And we should leave it to the tabloids, because they have all the experience?

If that were the case, why would Brand resign? Surely he'd just stick to his guns and ride the storm and brouhaha. Would she really be calling for them both to be sacked, unless she's out to avenge being one of 100s of Brand's conquests?

Why knows? However, the bottom line is that many have maligned her purely on the basis of her profession, that is what irks me the most.

I'm sure the Goldmans and Sachs are pally, the UK showbiz world is a very small one and even smaller still, the Jewish one. Wossy seems to be pals with virtually any and everyone in light entertainment seeing as they are the main fodder for his chat show

It will be interesting to watch how Georgina Baillie's career develops now. I suspect we are stuck with her for good appearing on a variety of reality TV shows, proving she has a heart of gold by all the charity work she will do, etc.

Who are the Goldmans by the way?

I'm not witch hunting in the least. I'm just pointing out that she's gone about displaying her concerns for her privacy in a very odd way.

I couldn't care less what she does for a living, and I certainly don't think (and have not said) that she deserved what happened because of it.

Maybe she did feel that she was entitled to capitalise on this happening, but that doesn't alter the fact that she knew what the likely consequences of that would be - which includes further embarrassment for Andrew Sachs, if indeed he is embarrassed about her career. Some people wouldn't be.
