Rich   12 #1 Posted October 20, 2008 Topic.  Just bought War of the Worlds Season 1 on Region 1 DVD boxset, it doesn't work on the built in DVD player of my HD telly, tried it on the PC and it seems to work in Windows Media Player if I change the region settings of my DVD ROM drive, you can only do that a limited number of times before the change is permanent though. Is there any dedicated multi-region DVD player software available for PC? Preferably for free?
 Share this content via...

Ghozer   112 #6 Posted October 20, 2008 none of the above will do it.  you may be able to find a rom flash for your DVD Drive (careful, you can kill your drive) which will make it region 0 (multiregion) - OR Why not just buy another drive (they cost like £12 now), have one as region 2 and one as region 1 - problem solved
 Share this content via...
John   11 #7 Posted October 21, 2008 it doesn't work on the built in DVD player of my HD telly  Most systems have a special code you enter via your TV/DVD remote that changes your DVD player to multi-region.  Since you've not provided the make then you'll have to find it yourself  Read the disclaimer on that site before you go ahead with any unlocking http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/dvd-unlock
 Share this content via...

alchresearch   214 #10 Posted October 21, 2008 Don't you need to run a program to bypass the region coding of your DVD ROM drive?  I recall one called DVD GENIE did this. It bypassed the region coding and started up your DVD software without prompting to change the region coding.  DVD Genie:  http://www.inmatrix.com/files/dvdgenie_download.shtml  DVD Firmware Portal:  http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php
 Share this content via...
Phanerothyme   12 #11 Posted October 21, 2008 do slysoft still sell AnyDVD? Yep - it seems so  AnyDVD AnyDVD is a Windows-based driver that works automatically in the background to unprotect encrypted movie DVDs. AnyDVD works best with CloneDVD and CloneDVD mobile  This is good as it lets you play any region on your PC dvd player, and you can skip all the tedious trailers and idents that normally you have to sit through.  http://www.slysoft.com
 Share this content via...
