Can anyone give me the details of the site where you're able to find details of vehicles to check that they're taxed/insured etc.?

I thought you could only check vehicles for stolen or the chassis numbers not matching up etc? You can do this on the rac website.

I seem to recall recently (though I can't find it now) someone had given information about a site where you could key in the registration number of a vehicle which gave information about the vehicle.

The DVLA site will tell you if it's taxed or not.

Tax is easy, just look for the disc.

Even if it is taxed, the disc has to be displayed for it to be valid I believe.

Remember HPI checks aren't worth the paper they are written on if the car has had it's plates & documents cloned.

I once bought a car (mid 80s) with several months' tax on disc. After registering with DVLA got a letter saying cheque for original disc had bounced and so my car was not taxed and I would be liable to big fine etc if I didn't buy new tax myself. Not sure if law has changed since then.
