SheffieldForum   936 #937 Posted July 4, 2007 Am I bovvered?  And the award for 'most obvious response to a post ever' goes to....       lol
 Share this content via...
PuressenceUK Â Â 10 #938 Posted July 4, 2007 Terrible decision. Tates character was horrible in the Xmas special. Â This decision is almost univerally being panned as well currently on the BBC News Have Your Say forums. Maybe having read the feedback they will change their minds on this one? donuticus   10 #939 Posted July 4, 2007 Bloody awful decision. I cannot believe they've done that.
 Share this content via...
julado   10 #940 Posted July 4, 2007 How very dare they .......can I claim runner up prize in the obvious response competition!  IMHO though ANYBODY but Martha....I am just sorry that she will be infiltrating Torchwood....Martha is irritating beyond belief.....I just hope there will come a day when the Doctor can re-programme his tardis to travel back to where he left Rose Tyler. Come on BBC...it isn't rocket science!!!!! (oops)
 Share this content via...
Salster! Â Â 10 #941 Posted July 4, 2007 They don't like the Catherine Tate idea on the main Doctor Who forums. Â Someone unknown or even a proper actress would have been better.
 Share this content via...
Tess   10 #942 Posted July 9, 2007 As much as i disliked Martha, I cant help but think that Catherine Tate must be one of the worst decisions the people at Dr Who have ever made. I think that people watching Dr Who will be half expecting her to go into one of her sketches, and after seeing the christmas episode last year i must say i think her acting skills arent really up to much.  wonder how long this sidekick will last..  x
 Share this content via...
supersam   10 #943 Posted July 9, 2007 I love the sketches but as tess said b4 me, the woman is no actress. She should have done a series on being granny from her sketches, not DR Who.
 Share this content via...
nick2 Â Â 10 #944 Posted July 9, 2007 i must say i think her acting skills arent really up to much. Â Since when have acting skills been a prerequisite for being in Doctor Who ? Â The guy who plays the doctor now is dreadfull, but not in a funny, camp, OTT way like Tom Baker, he's just tedious.
 Share this content via...

But thats never stopped me before so I'll stick my oar in anyhow.  Tennant is a good actor. It is the lines and the uneven way the character is written that lets him down. You could stick Von Syndow in the role and he'd come across as OTT and tedious.
 Share this content via...
WallBuilder   10 #946 Posted July 9, 2007 I say give her a chance after all there were plenty of people who thought Billie Piper was going to be a HUGE mistake. Just as long as she can seperate her show from Doctor Who then let's wait and see. I didn't think the Xmas special was too bad apart from the silly spinning tree's of course. I've had to remember though to put my 'kiddy' head on when I watch the last two doctors as the show is aimed at a very wide age range and not just 30-40 year old whovians. Oh and I still think Tom Baker was the start of a downward spiral or maybe I was just growing up,
 Share this content via...
banesmabes   10 #947 Posted July 9, 2007 Although I welcome a companion who is not of the young, slim, very attractive category, Tate's character in the xmas special was intensely annoying. She did nothing but shout, in much the same way as many of her sketch show characters. Hopefully Donna will be toned down once we get to next series, and not sound like a bad extra from Eastenders. coopster1974 Â Â 11 #948 Posted July 10, 2007 *Sigh*Â We are NOT having a new companion, so, the whole assuming who is going to be traveling with the doctor is . Â Could you repeat that? Didnt quite catch it the first time round
 Share this content via...
