Bruno Thackery played for the Park Hotel with a mate of his in the early seventies,he was a bit of a lad rough as they come,he would play mostly centre forward chucking his weight around!.His pal always sent a report in to the Star lauding him even if it was only a friendly,it was worthy of Enid Blyton,he always referred to Bruno as "the German born centre forward"!.To the best of my knowledge he had never been anywhere near Germany in his life but his mate thought it was hilarious when it was printed every week!.Earlier on someone mentioned another Bruno, this fellow was a tough nut,I came across him one match,he was playing in goal,I recognised him from when I was a member of Hillsborough Boys Club as a schoolkid!.Those days he was a boxer a real hard man,I remember him going a few rounds with our instructer an ex pro who called an end to the session as he getting a going over!,years later I never forgot it when I saw him again so I steered clear a wise decision!.

I played for the Abbey Hotel, 1972 - 1974. I remember games against Timbertop. Our home games were on pitches behind Maud Maxfield school at Bents Green.

I didn't know that I'll ask him.

He did play for Heanor Town in the 60's.
