Recommended Posts

Could anyone tell me if it is possible to get from Manchester to Sheffield by bus after 8 pm on weekdays? Thanks

The train would be better because they are usually every hour or so because of the airport link, on arrival in Sheffield you can get straight on the tram, bus or taxi for the rest of you journey.

Never caught the bus though

The train would be much quicker.

It can take anywhere between 1 hour 25 mins to 3 hours 30 mins on the coach (according to http://www.nationalexpress.com), whereas the train takes around 50 mins (if you get one of the "quick" ones)!

There doesn't appear to be much difference in price either, but I've only had a quick glance... :)

National Express coaches are routed via Leeds the last I heard, take forever and only run about 4 times a day. I could be wrong though.

Trains are usually a better bet for this journey across the pennines, expresses take about 50 mins, stoppers take 1hr20, and run every half hour until about 10pm. On weekdays they run through the night as well.

If your determined on a bus then a short 14 mile train journey to Glossop, were you can pick up a bus to Sheffield from there.

The bus is only available in summer.

I'd stick to the train direct though if i was you.
