When I was younger I would have said it's a toss up between Psycho and The Birds but in recent years I've discovered some of his other masterpieces like North By Northwest, Rear Window and Vertigo. I'd place my vote on the latter.  Just out of curiosity is anyone here familiar with his silen era films? I particularly liked The Lodger. Or even a bit further along the way when sound came in Lifeboat, which could been seen as a dry run for Rope of Rear Window.  He was a fascinating director.
