What is Norton like?

Recommended Posts

We currently are renting in Meersbrook and love it. We are looking to buy a 3 bed house but there are limited numbers available in Meersbrook. It also looks like you get more house for your money in Norton... what's it like as a community? What are schools like?

Any info gratefully received, Thanks.

Norton is lovely, I have several friends there, and we had been looking to buy there (that is until the dreaded credit crunch).

Schools are good (a choice of primaries, all of which feed to Meadowhead), however if you are talking about Norton Lees, its still not bad an area, but schools feed to Newfield and much has been said on the Forum about that school.

Norton has good transport links, a few shops. which part exactly are you looking at?

I'm looking to buy around Norton/Woodseats area and I'd actually say the reverse - you get more house for your money in Meersbrook. Some parts of Norton are extremely expensive, though like anything it depends on what your budget is, plus which part exactly you're thinking of moving to. Lovely area though.

As a community, well we have found people round here to be generally friendly and everyone says hello to each other. Don’t personally know what the schools are like but our friends kids go to the local primary Mundella and seem to be doing well and are happy there.

This thread will give you a bit more info:

If you are looking to buy in this area, we are selling our house and are open to offers. Here is thread:
