Mansfield dialect, Mansfield accent

Recommended Posts

Hello all

Is anyone originally from Mansfield? Can you give me any terms or turns-of-phrase which are really 'Mansfield'? It doesn't matter if they're also in use elsewhere in the country - they don't have to be uniquely Mansfield, but stuff which isn't part of standard English.

It's part of a plan to inject some humour into a best man's speech at a wedding involving an Australian and a Mansfielder. I just need to be accurate and I'm not from Mansfield, see?

Thanks

I did say they don't have to be uniquely Mansfield. Some terms travelled about many many years ago, what with migration from mines opening and closing and stuff. It's not that far from here, I suppose...
