Surely they can't waste enough to be a viable alternative to petrol/diesal in this country?

Well that is true they don't waste enough to be a viable alternative to petrol or diesel. But it would be giving life to a product that is not usable anymore, surely that is a good thing?

Absolutely agree.

Diesel does produce more carcinogenic particulates than petrol - so I'm told...

We should just call it climate change really.

Did you see the professor on the B.B.C.news yesterday saying that the emissions from cars & factories has very little to do with global warming. His theory is that there has been global warming going on for millions of years. There were no factories or cars then but it still happened. In some ways I agree with him because mother nature is more powerful than we mortals.

Some people think that we are still coming out of the last ice age.

After all a few thousand years is not much in the timescale of things.

We are still coming out of an ice age, a lot of the world is still covered in ice, but there is a difference between a very slow and gradual rise in temperature, (relatively) and a sudden rise that leads to adverse effects.

Global warming may be a load of rubbish, but do we really want to take the risk? Do we really want to live in a world where breathing the air damages your health, and hillsides are striped of vegetation from industry? We also need to think about the effects of using up all the fossil fuels without finding workable alternatives.

There is no question about the fact the earth is warming naturally, the question is about wether we are accelerating this warming to catastrophic rates.

there's also a theory that Global Warming isn't actually a result of the world's "Carbon Footprint".

More a result of Solar Radiation bombardment from the sun, as were going through a cycle which we cant actually change.

And that yes, it has happened before.

And the likelyhood is that our governments know this - which is probably why the US government is happy to put new taxes on its nation yet not reduce its emissions as much.

hmmmm!

My own opinion is that at some time mother nature will intervine & sort it out. We could end up like the dinosaurs, surplus to requirement.

Carbon footprint my arse! A few thousand years ago the ice caps were a lot smaller than they are now... It's just earth going through a natural change but we blame ourselves! When the climate on the poles warm and snow starts to fall replenishing the ice caps (due to it not being too cold to snow) in a few hundered years time we'll say it was us that have done it by becoming greener irrespective of the fact that it would all have happened irrespective of our greenhouse emissions etc.....
