Xbox 360 hard drives, can they be repaired or replaced?

Im just wondering, can you get xbox 360 hard drives repared anywhere , if so where, and how much?

Repaired, highly doubtful, but they are just a 2.5" SATA laptop hard drive, so im sure you could buy one of them and put it in the caddy, however you would loose all your data.

Not possible sadly, they have to be formatted in a certain way and have some signed code on there to work, which is done in the factory.

I believe there are tools out there to create a 360 compatible drive using a PC to put in your caddy, but only a couple of drive models are compatible, and have to be a certain capacity i.e. you can't stick a 500GB drive in there, it would have to be the same as existing official Microsoft drives.
