Badminton fee to Charity

Recommended Posts

Don't worry we're not going to raise the fee!

As some of you might know; last week we sponsored the Hillfoot Steel Group 'Badmintonathon' (http://www.badmintonathon.com/) with free shuttles. We provided them with shuttles to achieve their 24 hour non stop badminton game to raise money (about £3000,-!!!) for two charities. This amazing achievement by them gave us the following idea:

We as a committee propose to give £0,10p (of the £4,- fee so it won't cost you anything extra) of every player each week to charity chosen by the group. By doing this we could raise £2,50-£3,50 a night x about 50 playing weeks = approx £150,- a year. It seems a really easy way to give something back to the ones who need it badly and we (as a club) can afford it. It might not seem that much but the group is growing and every bit helps right?!

We plan to hand to money to the chosen charity at the annual Christmas dinner. This gives us some time to chose one. A poll will be set up in our forum group where new ideas will be added in.

So please have a think about where you think the money would be well spend. (No not your own bank account!)

We hope you're all behind us in this idea and that we may raise a lot of money!

Jaap

I suggest Healey city farm, as this helps children from schools, adults with learning difficulties etc.

Can I ask you all again to have a think of a charity to which we could donate this year?!?

Thanks!

Where did it go to last year Jaap?

Charities for Mental Illnesses are always my preference for varying reasons. The only specific charities I have any knowledge of around here is Weston Park Cancer Charity but obviously thats always has plenty of things on the go - perhaps a smaller charity that gets less publicity might be a more useful contribution for us to make?
