mrjolly48 Â Â 10 #1 Posted July 8, 2008 will anyone be queuing up for new iPhone on friday day of release ? just wondered if i had to set off early to stand with geeks in a queue.... Â how are people going to queue at meadowhall or other shopping centres ? there are several entrances that will all open at 8am ??? for the store opening at 8am meaning you could queue from 7am and someone at another entrance could just stroll in at 8am and get to o2 before you ? Â or do you think they will open the main entrances early ? anyone work at meadowhall or know the procedure ?
 Share this content via...
Rich   12 #2 Posted July 8, 2008 Nope.  I'm happy with my N95 now that I've finally figured out how to use the thing.
 Share this content via...
DaFoot   10 #3 Posted July 8, 2008 ...just wondered if i had to set off early to stand with geeks in a queue.... I'm not sure it is a phone for geeks.  More of a phone for the fashionable/image concious [sp?].
 Share this content via...
Rich   12 #4 Posted July 8, 2008 I'm not sure it is a phone for geeks. More of a phone for the fashionable/image conscious [sp?].  Same difference IMO.  And I fixed a typo in your quoted post
 Share this content via...
DaFoot   10 #5 Posted July 8, 2008 Same difference IMO. Not to me... A geek would want a phone with latest and greatest gadgets/functionality/compatability. Looks come second to features.  The 'fashionable' need it to look nice when they use it in the pub, so swishy interface is the important thing for that group. Extra functionality nice to have.   I've never considered geeks to be fashionable... is geekiness now fashionable?  And I fixed a typo in your quoted post Very kind. andeht   10 #6 Posted July 8, 2008 Unfortunately it looks like I'm sad enough to give it a try. Although my excuse is it means I can palm off my current one to the OH, which'll save me buying them one of those pink ipods.  Having said that, if I show up and there are queues resembling the sort of things you see in the states on TV, I'll give it a miss. Worringly, if what happened to the o2 website is anything to go by, there probably will be
 Share this content via...

pennypie   10 #8 Posted July 8, 2008 Nope. I'm happy with my N95 now that I've finally figured out how to use the thing.  You've figured it out!!! Well done!! Had mine since March, and every time I use it it crashes/turns itself off!! Its literally the worst phone I have ever had.
 Share this content via...
Paulmat   10 #9 Posted July 8, 2008 I would be getting one if I could afford it  I don't quite understand this idea that 'iPhones are for posers'. I've got a Sony Ericsson w960i, which does everything an iphone can plus more, but it's no-where near as easy to use. It doesn't have the whole easy to use interface (and zooming in out/scrolling etc), it's a fiddly to use, it's got too much on it (half of the stuff I'll never use, so it just gets in the way), it's no-where near as easy to set up with my MacBook and it doesn't look as good (come on, admit it - looks are important).  I tried my sisters N95 the other day and it's even worse! The lack of touch-screen makes a big difference.
 Share this content via...
DaFoot   10 #10 Posted July 8, 2008 ...I don't quite understand this idea that 'iPhones are for posers'... Comes from the idea that while the iPhone may be easy to use and look nice, it is only just getting features that other manufacturers have been including for quite some time.  Therefore the interface becomes becomes the only thing to differantiate from other (often better featured) handsets, therefore becomes the main selling point.  I think that makes sense as I read it back to myself
 Share this content via...
Paulmat   10 #11 Posted July 8, 2008 I see your point DaFoot, but the interface and ease of use are a big point when choosing between phones. Apple have managed to create possibly the best UI around, so obviously people are going to buy it for that.
 Share this content via...
DaFoot   10 #12 Posted July 8, 2008 Each to his own, I prefer lots of latest wizardry and gadgets to play with.
 Share this content via...
