Sony Playstation Website Hacked!!

Recommended Posts

Now i'm defo glad I have an Xbox as I wouldn't want to be scammed!!

The site attacked is the standard website (accessed via any browser on any system), not the Store/Network site which is accessed via the consoles, so it would make no difference. That is like saying "Microsoft products have been hacked again and there are security issues with Explorer.....I'm glad I play Nintendo!"

The site hacked was the playstation site. Maybe another sign of Sony not keeping up to date with technologys!!

It was a PWS Website for the Playstation 3 that was attacked via a MySql Injection attack that simply made a popup appear, which claimed to have scanned the users PC and offered a download for an anti-virus.

Hardely the worst attack, and it has now been resolved.

I'm going to wildly assume that you have an XBOX 360? You should meet Rich, you'd get along quite well.

If you own a 360 you already have been.

Care to elaborate why or are you the new version of Rich, but only this time on Sony's side of the fence?

I'm not on any side of the fence really. But compared to MS selling a system that was completely broken, a hacked website in neither here nor there.

It was more a tongue in cheek reply to the daftness of the OP than a serious point though.

And excuse me while I  at Sony.

OK MS has had problems with Xbox, even I admit that, I had to send mine back last year for an overheating problem, never had the RROD though, but at least their website is pretty darn secure, unlike Sony's it would seem :D

I'd wager everyone that knows nothing about the security on either site thought that the Sony site was secure as well.

Excuse me whilst I roflmao at the suggestion that Microsoft's site is secure. Yeah, must be true...what MS based sites have ever had faults and been insecure? Never been any issues with windows update site being cracked, or any of the MSN sites either. No virals transmitted via there, eh? Never seen a MS site hacked have we?
