*_ash_*   88 #13 Posted June 16, 2008 Out of curiosity (and slightly OT) - is there any reason this 'feature' has been restricted to this area of the forum? I would have thought posting pictures inline would be a great way for people to share their experiences and such in other areas of the forum also?  Sites that have this enabled are cluttered, IMO. (other than obviously photo sites or specialist sites).  I would very much doubt that the main section will ever have this (hope not anyway).  Some other areas of the forum may benefit from this, like the knitting group, or some areas of classifieds.  I think there is a question about this in the 'Suggestions Section' where it has been answered in more depth by the Admin and Moderating team. matsalleh   10 #16 Posted June 18, 2008 Sites that have this enabled are cluttered, IMO. (other than obviously photo sites or specialist sites).  I have just posted this in the suggestions section:- "Would it be possible for members of this section to remove their own posts? As you probably know I had a few problems in embedding images and now have posts with no pictures on them, just some meaningless words. This would also give members the opportunity to update their own threads. Many thanks."
 Share this content via...
DaFoot   10 #17 Posted June 18, 2008 Mat - you can edit your posts. Reduce them to nothing (or ...............) and someone will kill it. Or contact one of mods to remove posts (can GLs remove posts in their groups?).
 Share this content via...
mr chris   10 #18 Posted June 18, 2008 Surely it's uploading them to flickr, not downloading....
 Share this content via...

Yes done that,I just thought it would be quicker and easier if we could do our own(only),knowing how busy Mods and GL's are especially today. medusa   16 #24 Posted June 18, 2008 I think it's because people aren't used to seeing pictures in other areas of the forum and some people on here aren't yet on broadband. People expect to see large photos in the photography, but not in other forums - therefore it isn't enabled. Also I think the photography forum is in effect 'beta testing' the feature, and it may be rolled out to other SIGS later. I could be wrong, but that was my impression from a few posts admin/mods have made  ^^^What he said.  The current embedding feature is being tested and is not a permanent feature (yet!) and at present is not planned to make an appearance on the main forum.  Forums with embedded pictures take up an enormous amount of bandwidth just to open threads and anyone with slower connections is likely to find them almost impossible to navigate around at a decent speed. This is in addition to how cluttered and hard to read they can be.  If the embedded photos stays around after testing it is only likely to be for groups such as the photography group.
