UPDATE 18TH Feb 2010

Just to let you all know on Friday 5th March 2010 at 7:30PM on Channel 4 the case about my mum Patricia Grainger will be featured in a documentary about disability hate crime the documentary is called 'Sticks&Stones' if you have time to watch it that would be great. The documentary is about disabled people who are bullied/abused about there condition by other people, my mums case is featured in the documentary as before she was murdered she herself although she was loved my many people received allot of verbal aswel as psyical abuse by people in the area.

In the documentary Adults with disabilities speak out about their experiences of hate crime and question a society that continues to do nothing to protect them. Public attention was drawn to the issue of disability hate crime after the tragedy of Fiona Pilkington, a mother who killed herself and her disabled daughter in October 2007, after a decade... See more of abuse from local teenagers and no help from the authorities. It was said that the Pilkington case had provided a watershed moment to move disability hate crime up the public agenda, yet more often than not the voices of those who are persecuted because of their disability go unheard.

Thank you.

Danny

Danny. I remember this being in the newspaper etc. I am sorry that nothing ever came to light regarding who killed your Mum. I don't know for sure if it would help at all but, why not send a letter to the Chief Constable of South Yorkshire, expressing your concern that the case seems to have gone quiet? Do you think Crimewatch could help? I don't know how they select which crimes to highlight on TV, perhaps they are passed to them by the police, but for the price of a stamp it is worth a try. I wish you every success, and hope that when the person is finally caught, you can move on and also take good memories with you.

Aw, hell mate - my ex's family lived there about that time, I do recall something in the papers about it.

Hopefully this scumbag will be caught and serve a long time inside.

I would like to say get the death penalty, but we know that wont happen.

Best of luck in your quest for justice.

So sorry to hear of this - I looked at your website, it's really good. Take comfort from the fact that even decades on, murderers and rapists are being caught thanks to advances in DNA testing. Let's hope that your Mum's case is another that can be resolved in this way. Good Luck:thumbsup:

Danny, that is a superb idea starting a website.

With the anniversary coming up, its a good time to get some publicity because as has been pointed out (thanks probably to 911) technology has moved on.

I have sent you a PM also
