Remember any old silly verses etc you were told as a child

Recommended Posts

It was originally more like:-

Hitler ,he only had one ball,

Goerrin had two but very small

Himler, was very similar,

But poor old Goebels had no balls at all.

"Hitler,

Only had one ball.

Goering had two but very small

Himmler

Had something Similar

Put poor old Goebbels

had no balls

at all"

My teacher asked us if we knew any rhymes when I was in the infants back in the 60s and mine was one my granddad taught me.

Here I sat broken hearted paid a penny for a sh*t and only f*rted.

One fine day, in the middle of the night,

Two dead men got up to fight

Back to back they faced each other

Drew their swords, and shot each other...

(there is more, but I cannot remember the rest- sorry. I'm sure others will be able to fill in the gaps)

or how about

"Not last night but the night before

Three tom-cats came knocking at my door

One had a fiddle,

One had a drum,

And one had a pancake

Stuck to his bum!"

and the third is a bit of a risque one.. I'd better not say any more of it.

Once upon a time

The birds (*cough) the Line

And the monkeys chewed tobacco

Go on !

" Poetic licence ".

I learned this as

Hitler he's only got one ball

The other is in the Albert Hall

His mother

The dirty bugger

Chopped it off 'cus it was too small

I remember that one lol.

Here is a rather puzzling one which I seem to remember from cub scouts; I think it must be American because of the mention of 'schoolkids going to camp':

The Inspectors travel by chauffered limousine,

The headmaster drives there in a Talbot Sunbeam

the teachers they get the bus if it runs on time

but all the poor old schoolkids get is marching in a line.

Thats the way the treat the schoolkids,

Thats the way the treat the schoolkids,

Thats the way the treat the schoolkids,

When they go to camp.

The Inspectors they have roast beef,

The headmaster he has ham

The teachers they have bullied beef and sometimes they have ham

but the poor old schoolkids they make do with a piece of bread and jam.

Thats the way the treat the schoolkids,

Thats the way the treat the schoolkids,

Thats the way the treat the schoolkids,

When they go to camp.

The words are not entirely accurate, and there are several more verses, but there are probably quite a few of you who may also remember this sone and will bea ble to recall more of it.:hihi:

Wind blow velly rough, kicky up a bubbly

Makee poor Chinamannie feel velly queer.

I likee bow-wow, velly fine chow-wow

I likee lily girl and she like me.

I go a Hong Kong, whitee mannie come along

Steal a lily girl from a poor Chinee

My grannie used to sing this to me when I was a child but I have never met anyone else who knows it.

Eye tiddly eye tie brown bread

I saw a sausage drop dead

Up came the butcher with his axe and his knife

The poor little sausage had to run for his life

Eye tiddly eye tie brown bread

This was told to me by my great Uncle Charlie about 70 years ago

I've always wanted to know where it came from, so if anyone knows please tell me.

There once was a chickabit who went for a walk,

Met another chickabit and stopped to have a talk,

One smoked a pipe, the other wore a hat,

Trimmed with an onion,

What d' you think of that?

This from the same uncle about the same time when I was about 4 and found very frustrating as there seemed to be no story.

The point of which I didn't understand until I was about 10 or 12. (although he had long since stopped telling me this "story")

Two men sat around a camp fire, one turned to the other and said "shall I tell you a story"?.....

"Two men sat around a camp fire, one turned to the other and said shallI tell you a story"?

"Two men sat around a camp fire.........

and so on ad nauseum

"Its a bit black o'er our Bills mothers" (referring to the weather)

Great g/mother born 1870 and lived in East London used to say about the weather: "It's black as Newgit's knocker." as did my Aunt, my mother and even now, me.

Newgit= Newgate prison in London, closed in 1902.

Uncle Jim makes lemonade

Around the corner chocolate's made
