Trail of destruction in Crookes

Recommended Posts

I have just been over Crookes, what a mess, its about time that the parents were made responsible for the actions of their offspring. What sort of age where they, and why didn't their parent know where they were. Or are they bothered (I think not)

It's the same with the graffitti, who sells the spray cans to these kids?

But I wouldn't say Crookes has become a dump, its not that bad, I have lived here for the last 30 years, and apart from more students, there have always been small gangs of kids knocking about. As for not being able to go on the Bole Hill I have never had a problem and we go over quite often mostly at night.

I have to agree. Crookes is not a dump and I also regularly walk across Bole Hill in the evening and at night and have never had a problem with anyone.

Hmmm. Well, that will explain the brick and empty beer bottles I found outside my house when I arrived home in a taxi last night. My car is fine thankfully. What time did all this kick off?

It all started about midnight on Saturday night / Sunday morning.

Had it happened in Burngreave or Manor no one would have batted an eyelid.

I disagree.

If it had happened there, the Sheffield Star would have made it front page news. Even Look North Yorkshire would have shown it, albeit buried somewhere between the local cricket reports and Leeds' dirtiest bus shelters.

What makes you think nobody would have batted an eyelid if it had taken place there?

What a night!

I can't say for sure but it looks like the same group then went on to put shop windows through at A-Team Property Management, Haybrooks Estate Agents and Blundells Estate Agents on Crookes main road.

Saw this when I went to the shop this morning. It seems strange that they've targeted three estate agents.

Was it a Saxton Mee staff party!?

A car on Cobden View Road had a brick put through its window in the early hours of Saturday morning. I was lucky - my car was parked nearby and there are trainer prints on my bonnet, boot and rear window so someone obviously decidfed to walk/run over it but no apparent dints/ damage. Should i call police? Would they come out and dust for 'trainer prints' or just treat me like an idiot when I rang up?

The sound this group made - shrieking, smashing glass - was genuinely chilling. What's going on? I've lived in Crookes since '83 and always felt very safe living here and walking home even in small hours. Very disturbing...

That's very funny :hihi::hihi:

Sevenhills - I'd give the police a call because the large group I saw went in the direction of Cobden View Rd. I bet it's the same person's who smashed your neighbours car rear window as the one's who walked over your car.

i was at this party, which i heard about through a friend, who knew one of the occupants of the house. This seems to have been the case for most people there who had heard about this party through word of mouth or the internet.

i got to the party real early and it was real tame, 20-30 people spread around the house in different groups socialising and listening to music. I realised I was probably the oldest person there at 24 and most of the crowd at this time were mainly of student age(16-early 20s).

it was all going steady and i didn't imagine any trouble to come of what was currently happening. then all of a sudden a hell of a lot of people started turning up in large groups. some were in their teens who were probably still in college and university, some even younger and had probably not even graduated school, others looking older.

the house had filled up and things started looking like they were out of control. at this time i chose to drive back into town to pick a mate up from a bar to come upto this party. we got back and parked the car up the road and then headed to the 24hr garage about 11:30 to get some beer, when we got back up there, the police had arrived and kids were starting to leave. i stood on the corner of the street at jaflong watching what was going off for a few minutes, a lot of kids just left but a group of about 20-30 started to grow outside.

i realised i'd left my coat in the house so i was going to have to go back to grab that, but i figured it would be for the best to leave it for people to leave before heading in and grabbing it, as we left we heard the sound of smashing glass followed by two kids running off with skateboards down the hill towards the 24hr garage and then down that massive hill with the funeral home on the corner of it.

after walking around the area for 20 minutes i headed back to the house and picked up my jacket, i spoke to a couple of people who were still there who said that it was all fine then it just went outta control and a group of skateboarders started causing damage to the house and a few more just followed suit, at the time of the party the main occupant of the house wasnt there but his housemates were, he knew about the party but not of the scale of it and said he didn't know anyone who caused the damage and aparantly they were gatecrashers. i found my jacket then nipped upstairs to the bathroom, it was a right state smashed glass bottles all over the floor, the bathroom floor was covered in booze and sick, one of the bedrooms had cerial all over the floor and the cupboard doors had been ripped off, and the living room had a ceiling in it, and aparantly someone headbutted the kitchen window and put it through.

i'm not justifying the damage and violence but there is nothing wrong with a good houseparty, there a good laugh and a good way for you to get drunk with friends without having to worry about taxis and ridiculous drink prices. i just dont understand why people would want to turn upto a house where everyone is having a good time and just cause havok, and ruin it for people there as well as neighbours. the headbutting of a window is absolutely beyond me too!

but as usual a decent party ruined by a set of idiots, making the rest of us look like a set of animals, absolute joke!

So there was a bit of a party in Crookes... hardly the Sheffield Bronx as a result! Crookes is a lovely area in which I enjoy living, not a dump as suggested in previous posts. As for the community forum.. some people just love to bloody moan don't they.
