If you want your local radio to improve you have to give a bit more feedback to the production team than I think XXX is crap!

 

They need feedback from a balanced perspective. First of all, you could contrast and compare the two main local stations. Choose a particular day, listen to the slot of choice on each side and give them some critical but useful feedback.

 

Which slots on each side do you enjoy - and why do you enjoy them?

Which slots on each side turn you off - and why you dislike that one?

Give them some feedback over an extended period say with a weekly email.

Make some creative suggestions for improvements.

 

Then look at the wide picture. Look at stations outside of Sheffield area.

What do you think Sheffield do better than them?

What do they do better than the Sheffield stations?

Nope Rony and Paulette are definately crap.

 

Should i compare them to Ken Bruce, jeremy Vine or Steve Wright because this is who they are up against. No contest really

When I contacted the station I said in detail that there is far too many so called panellists,and that there is not enough music ,there should be more specialist slots like antiques ,tv etc, and the roving reporter in the radio car should be on in the first 2 hours of Rony's prog.Even the consumer slot is now on later in Paulettes programme.

In general it needs to lighten up a bit.

When I listened again today to Rony's slot it started with someone talking till around 10.20 a.m,then another one came on, and at around 10.35a.m the panellists turned up again till 11.00a.m.In the end I turned it off and put Ken Bruce on

Radio Sheffield between 9.00a.m -1.30 pm has far too much talk about nothing really, its got boring.

If you agree with me then I suggest that you tell them .

IT IS OUR LICENCE FEE THAT PAYS FOR IT.

If you think Seth is overbearing did you hear last saturdays Praise and Grumble? it was pants. Whenever a Wednesday fan rang in all the presenter Rob wanted to talk about was the 'non' sending offs. People would try talking about other aspects of the game but he always went back to the same thing.

They might as well call it 'The Radio Sheffield United' praise and grumble slot.

Paullette is a terrible presenter, Howie was good in the afternoon , why the switch ?

I also now tune in to radio 2.

Seth infuriates me also with his radio voice ( smashie & nicey ) this guy was at school in sheffield , why the stupid american slant in his voice.

That was an outrageous interview, Foster completely lost the plot and became biased, eventually cutting the chap he was interviewing off so that he could have the last word . A complete abuse of his position. He clearly is not a journalist, so why do they let him loose interviewing people.

That was the last straw for me as well with Radio Sheffield. Those in charge there have much to learn - perhaps they have just stopped listening to local folk.
