giancoopa   10 #73 Posted August 26, 2010 Whats wrong with Toby Foster, his double act with Paul Walker in a morning is good listening. I agree that Rony should give it up and i cannot listen to Paulette, i turned her off today for Steve Wright on R2. Much better. Howie was good when he was on, shame he got shifted and Footie Heaven can be interesting at time. Its far better than Hallam, my god that is crap radio, same songs over and over again, rubbish DJs and godawful adverts. Keep up the good work Toby. maggi   10 #74 Posted August 26, 2010 Another vote in favour of Raw Talent from me (listening now!).  It would be great to have more specialist music shows on. The community radio station SheffieldLive has programmes catering for many musical tastes - why doesn't Radio Sheffield?
 Share this content via...
Cobra Verde   10 #75 Posted August 26, 2010 I normally tune into the Saturday football coverage and 'Praise or Grumble'... but that's about it. Radio Sheffield easy listening doesn't appeal to me what so ever. BBC 6 Music is my cup of tea.
 Share this content via...
mister_tmg   10 #76 Posted August 27, 2010 I like Rony and think he is very good at his job... but the station could really do with some younger presenters in general!
 Share this content via...
happyhippy   11 #77 Posted August 27, 2010 BBC local radio has been the butt of humour for decades. There was even a spoof which was born at least thirty years ago which made it to Radio 4 (Radio Active - "Coming to you locally wherever you are in the nation .... this is Britain's first 'national' local radio station"). It then became a spoof of Sky (KYTV - most of the scripts were recycled "Radio Active" scripts), and gained an international award.  BBC local radio has always really been about being Radio 4 meets Radio 2, but knowing the roads. I rarely listen to it to be fair, but I don't think it's as bad as some make out!  As for the licence fee matter, I'd rather pay for something which is more like a friendly uncle which I may use, and doesn't have to have a specific bent to it, than rely on whatever commerce desires. grafikhaus74   10 #78 Posted August 27, 2010 The city gets what it deserves (waits to be shot down in left wing flames), Leeds and Manchester don't cancel developments like Sevenstone  Really? Well they've just announced this in Leeds, there's the 'big hole' in Bradford etc.  Nah, I don't think Radio Sheffield is about the economic situation or the lamentable performance of the Council over 40-odd years.  It's just a crap station full of never-has-beens. gamezone07 Â Â 23 #83 Posted August 27, 2010 I think Rony is an excellent presenter, his show is warm, informative and inclusive , however, I am aware he himself has wide musical tastes so why doesn't he play them, not just 80's pap. Â he could play nu folk, dylan, less commercial sixties music, rock n roll, country, etc
 Share this content via...
mister_tmg   10 #84 Posted August 27, 2010 I think he is told what to play by station policy. Paulette started as a receptionist before doing the gospel show - not exactly a traditional route...
 Share this content via...
