Richmond Hotel, another pub shut.

Recommended Posts

Looks like another pub has closed, The Richmond Hotel has its entrance boarded up, values of items removed notices in the windows and a TO - LET sign has gone up. It was only a few weeks ago an article in the Star told how the landlord had opened an on site gym etc.

Sign of the times?

Yeah i read that the landlord had converted the celler to a gym and people were using it etc. Maybe he found out a gym was more profitable than running a pub?

high priced drinks and the smoking ban have killed off the estate pubs, once the centre of the community now boarded up eyesores waiting to be vandalised.

Town used to be more expensive years ago . now the estate pubs are dearer , they just cant compete . the rule to split up the dominance of the big breweries didnt work .
