It has not been Uniteds training ground for nearly 15 years. It actually belongs to the pub i think, so may be they could help you.

Hi everyone,

We were out for a walk at the weekend and ended up looking round the show houses at the Viewpoint development on Myrtle Road.

Long story short, we really like one of the houses and have wrangled a deal that is a really great opportunity for us.

We live near the bottom of Myrtle Road so know a fair amount about the neighbourhood but dont know anything at all about the top of Mertyle road and Wimpey Homes in particular.

A bit of searching around doesnt reveal any horror stories about Wimpey developments but it doesnt hurt to ask around. Ive noticed a few SF'ers live there so..........

What are your opinions both good and bad of the the following:

1. Area/neighbourhood, including the type of neighbours on the "estate"? I assume its mainly owner occupied with a % of rental. Is it family orientated?

2. More important the process of buying (or renting) from Wimpey and the quality of the houses?

Any thought would be very much appreciated. :)

Just incase anyone else is in a similar position, here's the web links to some digging around on wimpey homes:

I accept that new homes in general have more faults than older property. No builder/company is perfect so i'm researching the overall picture and of course horror stories seem to get more attention than good service/quality stories. Hopefully it is of some use to anyone thinking of buying a home. I'm not too put off by what ive read so far but it would be nice to hear some positive stories.

Hi,

We are planning to buy a new house by George Wimpey in Mytle close very soon.Happened to read a lot of bad reviews on the web about them and am wondering if anybody who's recently moved into Viewpoint can tell me anything about the quality of houses and their customer service. We are first time buyers and are really not sure what to expect of the build. We are planning on a professional snagging service after reading many reviews on the web. However, anything you could tell me about your experiences buying in viewpoint will be highly appreciated.About the area, about George Wimpey, about the build quality....anything at all.

Hi

I live there. I love my flat

I moved in in Sept and am still getting snagging done. Including waiting for replacement carpet in bed 2!

Vinyl flooring lifted in bathroom and kitchen and had to be replaced. Kitchen window was faulty and had to be replaced. 2 door handles had to be replaced. Bathroom fan was faulty.

Site manager is canny. Customer services decidedly average. Once you've handed over the money they don't particularly care.

You get a snagging visit before exchange. Would suggest you don't exchange til snagging all done. Have found the pushier and stroppier you get, the quicker things get done. I was too nice and naive!

Try Google

And are you sure you want to buy a property just at the moment?

Mind you are they giving you a big discount?

Be careful

I think you have to remember that with the amount of properties they are building there are going to be some niggley little faults that need putting right. Insist these are done before moving in.

Doubt its settled more likely cracks in the plaster from heat change. If the house had moved there would be an ongoing monitoring of the situation not a patch up and run job.

the builders are still on site for the foreseeable future so if it continues i know where they live....well, work anyway!
