Daven   10 #162 Posted April 18, 2008 In the era the church was constructed they were built to last. Someone earlier stated that it was a listed building and it's a crying shame that yet another historic Sheffield building has been lost. Flooz   10 #163 Posted April 18, 2008 Although it was a church it was actually used for Sufi Muslims as a place of worship (they do a type of meditation rather than prayer).
 Share this content via...

bus man   10 #166 Posted April 18, 2008 just gone past it now in car on abbeydale road I think thats another one we have lost , radio sheffield said they were deciding today if it had to be pulled down. I suspect it will pity as it will no doubt be replaced by a modern identikit building .
 Share this content via...

About 10 minutes later I noticed the smell in the air and looked out my window, saw the column of smoke - I live nearby so went round with my camera - http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk105/kamble1/vincent%20rd%20fire%2017%2004%2008/L1000872.jpg http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk105/kamble1/vincent%20rd%20fire%2017%2004%2008/L1000885.jpg http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk105/kamble1/vincent%20rd%20fire%2017%2004%2008/L1000870.jpg  But this one was my favourite: http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk105/kamble1/vincent%20rd%20fire%2017%2004%2008/L1000877.jpg
 Share this content via...
Rook   10 #168 Posted April 18, 2008 looking at the pics the fire looks like it started a lot lower than that  I was part of the large crowd gathered there and it did look like it started higher up. It only moved down through the building as the fire progressed.  But that's just what we thought - I'm no fire expert!
 Share this content via...
