well our old cat (huckle) sadly passed away a few weeks ago and we simply had to have another so off we went last week to the cat rescue shelter (off ecclesall road), we fell for 'smokie' but had to wait until he had all of his injections and microchip implanted, it was very worrying as you can't reserve the cats, it's first come first served- phew we got him though, he's a very handsome tabby/white tom but very nervous, we can't suddenly get up from a chair or he runs a mile, he may have been treated badly with previous owners:mad:

anyhow, he's very inquisitive and is still exploring the house.

he really is an affectionate cat but he really does the podding thing with the claws when he's on your lap:hihi:

not sure if the link will work but here goes

must just say that the staff were fantastic at the rescue centre- they do an excellent job there if anyone is interested:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::clap:

Firstly, my condolences for your loss, I dont think I could live without a cat, although my cat, Baby, is such a diva and is only 3, she has a load of wallpaper destroying years ahead of her lol!

Secondly, omg, what a gorgeous, gorgeous cat Smokie is! Bet grooming him is fun lol. Youve got yourself a lovely pet there, lots of love, cuddles and reassurance, and the timidness should ease in time,

Good luck, and a kiss for Smokie x

Oh my:) what a handsome looking dude John and the picture of health. I'm sure his nerves will settle down once he gets used to you and his new surroundings. Congratulations on being a Daddy again.

he's curled up in a ball on the sofa at the mo and didn't even give the snowstorm a second look:)

rgds, john:)

btw, our huckle (that died a few weeks ago) was quiet old and lived outdoors for most of her early life but then she saw fit to move in with us and, ending up, she didn't want to go out:o, she was very clean right up to the end....

Aww he is beautiful - and judging from the photos, probably has some Norwegian Forest Cat or Maine Coon in his bloodline too.

Hi Biggsy, great to hear about Smokie. We're the ones who adopted the other two cats that he came into the shelter with (Socks and Ginger Felix). I'll try and get a photo on here so you can see them.

Its funny you should mention that he runs off if you move suddenly, Socks and Felix reacted in the same way, but they are getting a bit better now. The OHs still thinking of going back and getting Tigger, the big tabby, aswell. I'll keep you posted about that :hihi:

we'd love to see some pics of your cats settled in, hope they're ok:)

our smokie didn't get up while 4pm this afternoon (the lazy beggar:D)

i still can't get over how friendly the biiiig tigger cat was, he looked big enough to start dragging people in to the garden for dinner..

hope you manage to get him, he's a beaut;)

regards, john:)

ps, tried to reply last night but the forum was acting a little :loopy:
