Why not just use windows search tool to find all files created in the last, say, 24 hours?

I've had this. It was a fake file that somehow just kept getting bigger and bigger. If i rightly remember it ended up being about 30gig in the end.

I can't remember the name of the file but the thing kept coming back every time i removed it.

I was running windows 2000 at the time and i ended up formatting it in the end.

You could use http://w3.win.tue.nl/onderzoek/onderzoek_informatica/visualization/sequoiaview/

Its a utility that scans your hdd for files and gives you an graphical representation of the files on there, if theres one huge file ever expanding as eric suggested it should show up quite easily.

There is a possibility that your machine is infected and being used as a midway station for illegal or offensive content so a full antivirus scan (with updated definitions) and some anti-malware/rootkit scans would be top of my list.

Also have a look at windirstat, its like sequoia view, but also gives a tree view.

windirstat.sourceforge.net I think

Screen dump it and post to photobucket and gives us a link.
