These 'Charities' aren't really charities in the real sense though are they?

They are a Government approved financial swiz to get millstones from around the necks of councils. That is why most of our parks, entertainment venues and sporting facilities are now run as arms length charities, trusts, or limited companies.

JG Graves didn't give charitable land. He gifted land to the City of Sheffield and expected the Council to continue his benefaction for everyones benefit. The Council has reneged on their part of the deal.

Similar assets such as the City Hall, Ponds Forge... you name it... has been extracted into special financial vehicles, chartable or otherwise. But be under no illusion, the Council has opted to keep their power over them by retaining control over the governming instruments of each organisation.

Graves Park Trust, Sheffield International Venues... call them what you will the Council ensures that they call the shots and forget the real meaning of the word "trust".

This is only your personal interpretation: JG Graves didn't give charitable land. He gifted land to the City of Sheffield and expected the Council to continue his benefaction for everyones benefit. The Council has reneged on their part of the deal.

Exactly the same argument can be used at ' Blackamoor ' where the Sheffield Wildlife Trust have been moved in.

Initially I was completely and totally against the,' Hospice in Graves Park ' and feel very sorry that it as become such a conflict. But after a great deal of thought, I now believe that Ald J.G.Graves would have approved of it and I also believe that it can be of a long term benefit, for all the three main organisation directly involved in Graves Park, especially regarding the long term existence for the,' Friends of Graves Park '.

From the number of councilors appointed. It would appear that Wards in the Hallam Constituency are very well covered.

Are these from the Liberal Democratic Party?

It isn't my personal interpretation, it is the fact. Graves did not establish a charity or a trust. SCC did that just a few years ago. It also extracted the City Hall and lots of other venues and placed them inside quangos that give the legal benefit of being 'arms length'.

Obviously the last sentence about reneging is open to debate ;)

You believe all you like Albert, but the fact remains Ald.J.G.Graves left the land to the people of Sheffield not a specific group, and as the quote from 1913 says

May be the fact always be there to shield Norton from the destroying hand of the buider.

Sheffield International Venues was set up by the City Coucil. Excess profits generated by the company are donated to the Sheffield City Trust.
