Crosser Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 I am considering the XBox 360 elite or the PS3 (The Wii is not an option for various reasons) What would you reccomend between the two as a good all round machine? Thanks Crosser.
Beakerzoid Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 This has been discussed on a few threads and always boils down to the same arguements:- * Do you want a machine with more games and support at present, and a stronger online community? If so, the 360. * Do you want a machine which has yet to reach its potential, but does have the ability to play bluray multimedia discs? If so get the PS3. That more or less sums up the bickering that always burst out when someone asks the question. It is always down to personal preference.
lyndix Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 We have both of these consoles. If its online gaming you`re after I would say the 360, there are more games for the 360 aswell. Although you do have to buy points to play online. The ps3 is an excellent piece of kit if you can get the 60 gig console,(think they stopped making them, but don`t quote me on it) You don`t have to pay extra to play online but there arn`t as many games for the ps3. The ps3 does lots of extra stuff, plays blu rays, stores pics etc(loads that we havn`t worked it all out yet), and the quality is excellent.
DaFoot Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Beakerzoid has pretty much summed it up nicely for you. I would recommend doing a browse/search for the threads that discuss this subject at length. Unfortunately you will have to skim over the console bashing/bickering/fanboy posts
Crosser Posted April 5, 2008 Author Posted April 5, 2008 Thanks for your input RE "Although you do have to buy points to play online." You mean that you have to pay again just to play against people online????
DaFoot Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 To play games online with the 360 you have to subscribe to the service. Currently around £40 a year. Less than £1 a week. Personally I am quite happy to pay just a £1 a week for a service I enjoy using several hours a week.
Agrajag Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 PS3 has the edge IMHO. Built in wireless, Blu-ray and a web browser (and even Linux to play with) make it a little more attractive than the 360.
Lisa*Marie* Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 If you have a couple of friends who have an xbox and a ps3 between em then see if they will let you go round one evening for a couple hours and have a blast on both of em and then make your decision .
SaveUK Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 like beakerzoid said.. if you just want a console then get the 360 its cheaper for a start and you only going to miss out on GranTurismo and Metal Gear in the comeing months... if you want a console with the works then get the ps3 I see the ps3 as more of a media center but its very good at it. if your a gamer then get the 360 till the ps3 price drops to your budget... if your a gamer and a geek then get a ps3... or go mad and get both
Agrajag Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 I see the ps3 as more of a media center but its very good at it. I use a 360 with a missing DVD drive as a media centre, and very good it is too. The 360 and PS3 have virtually the same media centre capabilties.
