liam_s1 Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 I booked a private room in a hostel in Belgrade for May through a hostel booking site. The hostel contacted me directly and asked for more money. The site said they would look into it but never got back to. The hostel then cancelled the booking. I paid a deposit. I now want a refund but think I should be entitled to compensation! What should I do?
cgksheff Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 You should specify exactly what losses the compensation is to reimburse you for. You should read the detail of the terms and conditions of the booking site and, if possible, the hostel. I guess that you will be wasting your time. I think I may have misread: Go for the refund with a vengeance, but I think compo is out of the question.

What should I do? Don't make on-line bookings in any of the old Warsaw Pact countries is the answer. There are agencies that deal with these bookings in each city, just phone them and make a booking, you don't have to pay anything up front and it will be a lot cheaper as well. When I go to Praha for instance I don't even bother with advance bookings, I go to the agency in the main rail station and they always get me a hotel at at least half off.
