Positive Thoughts

i had anxiety pritty bad last year but when i stopped smoking it went away.

 

i thought it was the smoking that was causing it but i resurfaced its ugle head again this week & i'm not feeling too good, this is despit been 6 months smoke free.

 

i've now realised that it wasnt the smoking that was causing the anxiety. it may have been fueling it because i knew i was damaging my body but when i gave up cold turkey i re-enforced the idea why i was giving up in my head every time i had a craving. so i would sit there & tell myself i was strong & i could do this.

 

i'm now thinking that this is what made the anxiety go away, the thinking positive thoughts as anxiety is just a negative thought process. so now i am suffering again i want to do the positive thinking process again but this time i dont have giving up smoking to focus on.

 

i keep saying to myself i can do this, i am strong over & over in my head but i'd like some other positive thoughts & sayings to say.

 

are there any little saying you say to help youself & keep a positive attitude?

I suffer from anxiety and smoking definitely makes it worse, but I know that going cold turkey will also make it temporarily very hard.

 

Anxiety is very hard to deal with and I feel your pain. When it hits me, positive thinking - in fact all rational thought - goes straight out of the window. I commend you very highly for what you have done so far. What I have found (and my therapist has also been instructing me) is just to literally soldier through it and realise that it is relatively normal and it's not actually doing me any immediate harm.

 

It's just about using strength to get through it one day at a time, and improvising using your own techniques to try and make it a little bit easier every day. No-one can really tell you what to do as everyone is different.

i didnt feel worse when i gave up smoking, i think it was because instead of focusing on how bad i was feeling & the negative thoughts i was focusing on giving up smoking & the withdrawal it changed my whole thought process. that way the anxiety went.

 

the reason i started with the anxiety again this week is because on saturday when i went out i ended up having 5 drags off a cig (what was very ironic & i didnt know at the time was i had been stopped for 6 months dead on). that made the negative thought process come back because i was so angry with myself.

 

i to understand your pain, anxiety is a very hard thing to deal with & you can end up going round in circles in your own head. i want to try & change that.

 

i've also started taking a vit B complex & omega 3 fish oil as i have read that they can also help with anxiety.
