Coming off the contraceptive pill

Its quite normal to feel that way, especially after being on it for so long. Its just your body trying to kick start the natural process again. Get a good chick flick and some chocs :)

Ooh Peaches, not sure the chocs are a good idea! I've been eating for England this week! Chick flick a good idea, then at least I've got an excuse to have a good old weep!

Everyone i know who has come off the pill with the intention of conceicving 6-12 months later has been pregnant within 2/3 months - be careful if that will be too early for you. Everyone is different obviously, but i'd bear it in mind!

I was just about to say that I am sure I read somewhere that conception very soon after stopping the pill is quite common. So do be careful unless you don't mind when you conceive!

Thanks everyone for comments. No worries on that score (hopefully) as have been using condoms. I just hope that things get back to normal after taking the pill for so long.

I was just about to start a thread about coming off the pill because my OH stopped taking it last month after I had a vasectomy, shes been on it for 18 months now.

She`s complaining of feeling run down, she`s getting zits, putting on weight and her tempers... DAMN, her tempers!

She mentioned going back on it because she cant handle the affects!

What were your periods like before you went on the pill? I ask because the symptoms you describe are pretty much what I get every month :), but I don't want to worry you into thinking it's always going to be like that...

Still, it'll only be until you concieve, then you'll feel wonderful, of course??!! :D

I too came off the pill after 18 years and wow what a shock to the system it was, my usual light 3 day bleeds had turned into extremely 7 day bleeds, the period pain starts 2 days before the bleeds, and this now happens every 2 weeks, I feel like someone in the Sigourney Weaver film Aliens, where the Alien comes out of the stomach (ok, maybe a little over exaggerated but flipping painful) Give it a few months before seeking advice from doctors, and good luck with the conceiving :)
