Rich Siddall Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 We Sheffielders may soon be getting our pub landlords into hot water, calling bar staff 'love' could be seen as harrasment, other terms of affection are also no go areas. So just be careful out there, the Sheffield penchant for calling both sexes 'love' will only double the trouble. I was watching the One Show this afternoon, and this was on it, what next? I ask, will smiling be banned as well lest it be construed as a sexual advancement.

Ive had some of my fav.whistles off builders !
beansforyou Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 With the speed that pubs in Sheffield are closing down, the bar staff should have more to worry about than a few friendly names.
pinklady Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 oh no, i call everyone 'love' ....... its a term of endearment, not harrasment!
Rich Siddall Posted April 3, 2008 Author Posted April 3, 2008 I've heard about some builders supposedly losing their jobs because of wolf whistles, is it an urban myth?
Joe90 Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 a lady at work really told me off for calling her love saying "i'd rather if you didn't call me that thank you very much". i was surprised to say the least

*_ash_* Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 a lady at work really told me off for calling her love saying "i'd rather if you didn't call me that thank you very much". i was surprised to say the least I think you learn when it's ok to use, and when it's going to be deemed inappropriate. I think I would have been quite embarrassed in your situation there. Calling people 'love' in a pub is perfectly acceptable in my opinion (in almost all cases.... he says as a get out clause, I haven't thought of an inappropriate time yet).
