Rivelin6 Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Why did the police get fans off the Middlewood tram in Hillsborough just before 3 pm and weren't letting them board other trams later?
WILSON1 Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Yeah. Wot is happenin went for a look down Hillsborough outside Rawson and police were keeping people penned in the beer garden.
al_partridge Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 My wife saw the riot police rounding up 30-40 fans outside Wetherspoons at about 3:20. I'd walked past there going to the match earlier and all seemed calm. Probably Stoke yobs clashing with some of our knuckle-draggers
Livid Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 We had a bloke and his pregnant missus who were from Stoke on the tram come into our shop (she needed the loo) and he said that some young lad had run onto the tram and shouted 'come on stoke' in an agressive tone and run back off again and some form of surge ensued from the people on board. He said that there was some young children on the tram at the time and I hope that they were ok if some form of rush occurred.
igglepig Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 i drove through hillsborough just after 3pm, there was cops all over blocking parts of the roads. There was a tram outside weatherspoons packed with people and window was smashed on it, they also had one bloke handcuffed outside the bank. I just feel sorry for anyone on that tram that had kids and was in the middle of all that.
fyy123 Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 I've just driven back from Skegness, I came back through the town past the railway station, I saw the police but no sign of any trouble
digirunoff Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 saw a few dodgy looking blokes at the bottom of fargate at about 5.30 - think they were away fans - I didn't realise Stoke had a particularly bad set of fans.... then again I suppose you get degenerates in every town.
shepcanon Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Stoke have a very bad reputation, quite a nasty hooligan element. Not that you get a good hooligan element.
gabby Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Not that you get a good hooligan element. HA HA! Wouldn't that be great? A load of away fans piling into a pub, emptying the ashtrays and collecting the glasses....
