tompass07 Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Many of you may have never heard of the great sheffield band milburn but if you have they are splitting up and playing 1 last gig at the new academy. RIP MILBURN
EdnaKrabappe Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Aw I like Milburn. I think they suffered from the monkey curse and never really got out of their shadow even though they are very different. Cheshire cat smile is a brilliant song.
WhiteHawk Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Milburn are brilliant. Shame they're splitting up. At least we've had a couple of albums from them though.
StarSparkle Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Aww, I'm really sorry to hear that - I thought they'd got a lot to offer. But like Edna says, I don't think they quite managed to get out of the Arctics' shadow. It's a shame StarSparkle
discodown Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 thats a damn shame. they were better than the monkeys
muddycoffee Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Who ? Never heard of them. I thought you were talking about Alan Milburn the politician.
metro Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 I love them - anyone got tickets? anyone want to go with me well, well, well, worth asking. I am serious - anyone want to go (nobody I know loves them enough)
BasilRathbon Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 I think their problem was always the name; few people would have guessed that they were an Arctic Monkeys tribute band, even when Milburn played their hits "I Bet You Look Good On The First Floor" and "Drainstrom". Had they called themselves somethink like "The Antarctic Donkeys", people would have known what to expect from them and they'd have done a bit better. At least fans of AM tribute bands have still got Little Man Tate and a host of other Sheffield bands, so it's not all bad........
swordfish1 Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 I love them - anyone got tickets? anyone want to go with me well, well, well, worth asking. I am serious - anyone want to go (nobody I know loves them enough) Go on sale tomorrow See Carling Academy Sheffield website
pippadoll Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 That is a shame. I really liked their album. Maybe it will mean two new fab bands.
