Milburn are splitting up

Many of you may have never heard of the great sheffield band milburn but if you have they are splitting up and playing 1 last gig at the new academy.

Aw I like Milburn. I think they suffered from the monkey curse and never really got out of their shadow even though they are very different. Cheshire cat smile is a brilliant song.

Milburn are brilliant. Shame they're splitting up. At least we've had a couple of albums from them though.

Aww, I'm really sorry to hear that - I thought they'd got a lot to offer. But like Edna says, I don't think they quite managed to get out of the Arctics' shadow. It's a shame

I think their problem was always the name; few people would have guessed that they were an Arctic Monkeys tribute band, even when Milburn played their hits "I Bet You Look Good On The First Floor" and "Drainstrom". Had they called themselves somethink like "The Antarctic Donkeys", people would have known what to expect from them and they'd have done a bit better.

 

At least fans of AM tribute bands have still got Little Man Tate and a host of other Sheffield bands, so it's not all bad........

That is a shame. I really liked their album. Maybe it will mean two new fab bands.
