slimsid2000 Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 OK here is my view. I believe that the smoking ban has improved nightclubs in 3 ways. 1) There is no passive smoking in nightclubs any more so non-smokers are not exposed to it. 2) It is now impossible to smoke illegal drugs (eg cannabis) in clubs because the tobacco smoke is no longer their to 'hide' it. 3) (and I generalize here) Smokers come disproportionately from rougher areas (apologies to smokers from posh areas I know there are a few) and the ban will discourage people from the rough areas from venturing into town to go clubbing. Thus, the most likely trouble makers will be more likely to not be present and thus a better time can be had by all. So how do you feel about my analysis? Do you agree or disagree with any or all of the points.
stimpy Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 ok... I will play... 1 - the whole point of the ban? 2 - it never hid it anyway. thats all down to the venue and what they let their punters get away with. 3 - what a crock of shiot....
nick2 Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 So how do you feel about my analysis? It's another world.
Clare85 Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 The DJs and music are the reason I go to night clubs, so no smoke doesn't improve or make a difference to my ideal club!
Burntlego Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Smoke masked the smell of B.O. and beer farts, which is what clubs smell of now
slimsid2000 Posted March 29, 2008 Author Posted March 29, 2008 Smoke masked the smell of B.O. and beer farts, which is what clubs smell of now Perhaps people will use more deoderant now then.
slickwitch Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Most pubs smell of wee now. It's like a chain of old people's homes. The Fox and Bladder Dysfunction. Most people who smell of wee come from disproportionately rough backgrounds which are so rough they make them wee themselves. Hence they've soiled all the pubs in their local vicinity and rush around the city looking for new pubs to fragrance. Ecclesall Road boozeries are awash!
SHsheff Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Just curious sid - which nightclubs do you frequent? Surely you didn't start this thread based purely on theory? So, it'd be interesting to know which clubs in particular you're referring to!
Jason84 Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Nightclubs are better to work in after the smoking ban, but it's annoying to have to go outside to smoke when I'm out.
discodown Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 1. We all know this. Thats why there was a ban. 2. It just means they go outside with the smokers and it makes no difference to them 3. What a crock of crap. smokers are from all walks of life and not particularly rough. Also i'm amazed you care. Since you don't actually have the grapefruits to go to a club it really doesn't affect you. You've failed to mention that all silver linings have clouds, for all your so called advantages there are disadvantages
