Tony Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Latest research suggest that the radio waves that we beam out from earth actually degrade after a couple of light years. Sadly the nearest star is over 4 light years away. That means that we are unlikely to ever make contact with life on other planets, if there is any.
Little Buzz Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 I pray that there's intelligent life somewhere out in space, 'cos there's b*gger all here down on earth - and if they're so bloomin' clever they can find us :-)
pk014b7161 Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 being serious why would we want to make contact with something we know nothing of

Agent Orange Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 That's rubbish.... I often chat with foxforcefive and she is from another planet
Little Buzz Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 being serious why would we want to make contact with something we know nothing of To find out about it? Because curiosity is what led us to leave the trees, explore the plains and walk upright, and become what we are? I knew nothing about anything 30-odd years ago, I'm glad I've found out about stuff since. Or, cynically, so we can blow it to pieces or use it for out own ends. Still, there are plenty of reasons.
Jabberwocky Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Its almost as if we have an urge to head out among the stars, before we even knew the Earth belonged to a universe we looked upwards at night and imagined ourselves out there.
