Zimily Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 I think I have trapped nerve in my shoulder. Yesterday afternoon I was drying my hair and I got a shooting pain down my arm from my shoulder, now when moving my arm I keep getting the pain. Anyone have any advice? I'm guessing I may need to go to the walk in centre??
JoeP Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Sometimes alternately applying hot and cold pads will help relax it. I used to use a hot flannel for a few minutes, folowed by a bag of frozen peas wrapped in a plastic bag or towel or a cold flannel. A couple of painkillers of the NSAID family - Ibuprofen, etc. - might help. But yes - if it carries on for more than a day, GP or walk in centre.
Titian Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Yup, I've done it plenty of times, usually trying to reach things in stupid places. If it doesn't wear off try acupuncture
gazelle Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Massage even though it hurts. Could last a few days. I wouldn't bother my GP with something as trivial as that, its probably a pulled muscle any way.
Zimily Posted March 28, 2008 Author Posted March 28, 2008 It may be trivial but it blooming hurts!!!!
Zimily Posted March 28, 2008 Author Posted March 28, 2008 Oh and I'm pretty sure it's a trapped nerve as the pain shoots down to my wrist at times, not just the shoulder!
KATIEB_23 Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Yes I did a couple of weeks ago in my lower back - it was agony! I was screaming out loud when a shooting pain got me! And, weird coincidence, our dog has just been diagnosed with exactly the same thing (but in his neck) by the vet last night! I found that two ibruprofen, a double shot of vodka and a bottle of wine worked wonders! I can't really give the same to the dog though so he's on anti-inflammatory painkillers. For me it took about 4-5 days to get completely better.
SaxonLeigh Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 yeah i hate trapped nerves. the only advise i can give is to massage the area where it hurts & keep moving. i know it hurts to move but the more you do the faster the nerve will come free.
Guest Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Aye, it can be seriously painful. I got one at the bottom of my back which flared up occasionally. The pain meant that I'd have to just stop dead if I was walking as it hurt that much. Seems to have gone now thank God!
Zimily Posted March 29, 2008 Author Posted March 29, 2008 Well I still got it and I'm feds up. I think I must go to the walk in centre tomorrow just to check it is a trapped nerve. Ho hum
