Paul2412 Posted March 30, 2008 Author Posted March 30, 2008 Sorry to disillusion you, but China is most definitely not a Third World Country! But you're right that they can build and build quickly. Take a look at what they did in the Pudong area of Shanghai, the Three Gorges, their railways, the reconstruction of Beijing for the Olympics... Not that I can agree with what they have destroyed, necessarily... Anyway, this T5 farce was predicted months ago, but BAA (Build More Arcades) and BA (Bloody Awful) were incapable of getting their act together. They have no excuses. Yes, other airports like HK had teething problems, but that was ages ago, and it seems we in this country are incapable of learning lessons from that. Can you imagine properly run airports like Changi and Schipol getting into this mess?! LHR has been a place to avoid for a long time; and it's not getting any better... Thats why i said supposedly. I was directly referring to Pudong. Just 10 years ago I visited Shanghai for the first time and arrived at a tin shed of an airport. Now within those 10 years they have built IMO one of the best international airports in the world, a maglev fastest train in the world and a 4 lane highway. Incredible when the airport is as far away from sheffield to leeds from the actual city. Why does 1 terminal seem to stump all the fatcats on £100,000 a year plus in this country. Its a joke
