Bad_Hair_Day Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Hi, I've got a Lowepro Slingshot 100, which is fine for just my camera and a few small bits when I'm out on a short walk or on my bike, but there's not enough room in it to take anything else along (drink, sarnies, waterproofs etc), and nowhere to put my tripod if I'm going on a big wander. Can anyone recommend a bag that is handy for full day use? thanks
Grissom Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Have you considered say a mini trekker or Nature Trekker with a Trekker daypack for your food + waterproofs ? And use Bottle bags for your drinks ¿ I have the mini trekker with 2 bottle bags on. The bottle bags are perfect size for 1L Volvic bottles to fit in - pergect for me in summer as I sweat like a pig whilst lugging my gear about, and need oodles of fluid
willman Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 I have a Tamrac backpack (Adventurer) I think, more than adequate. Although i've just bought the new Expedition 7x which takes everythiing and a laptop.
jezzyjj Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 I use a Think Tank Airport Addicted for travelling - amazing bag, but I'm getting the LowePro 350 FastPack for travelling lighter. Harrisons have them in stock. This is like the slingshot but has two straps and you can even get a sizeable laptop in it.
DaFoot Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 I have a Tamrac Adventure 9 as my "take everything and the kitchen sink" bag. Bagpack/rucksack style, camera stored in nicely padded sections with a seperate section for a light jacket/lunch. Also has a hip strap and a compartment for a laptop. Then for walk about I have a Crumpler PrettyBoy XXL. Enough room for my SLR, lens or two and flash at a squeeze. Both bags serve the purpose I bought them for and I'm very happy with both.
ImpInaBox Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 I've been using a Tamrac Adventure 9 for the last year or so and find it very comfortable and great for carrying other things as well as the camera kit. In fact on a two day trip to Marrakech last year it was the only bag I took. The laptop section is big enough for my A4 notebook or a pair of jeans (pressed!) as well as or instead of the computer, there's a section at the top for butties/waterproofs/spare undies and side pockets/nets for bottles and stuff you might want quickly. I believe there's a tripod kit for it too but I've not tried that. My only complaint is that I have to take it off to get anything in or out - unless Ms Imp is within reach and can be persuaded to do the honours.
Bad_Hair_Day Posted March 31, 2008 Author Posted March 31, 2008 Thanks for the suggestions - this gives me something to go on. I had a bag on order from Harrisons which they said would arrive in time for Christmas, but it didn't turn up. Still not heard from them so I'm assuming they can't get it. I'll have a wander round this week and see what they've got in. cheers everyone
willman Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 If you want to check out some, I have the new 7X Tamrac, a Tamrac Adventure 5 and the Lowepro slingshot. You can test your kit in them if you like.
