Which Sheffield school is this?

BBC News article.

The article itself is a worthy if dull story on how the mismanagement of badly-behaved pupils is stressing out teachers. However it contains the following paragraph:

Jake Cosford, from Derby, told the conference about a job interview he had been to a school in Sheffield some years ago.

The child who was his guide through the school showed him a corridor down which teachers were not allowed to go, he said.

"I was then interviewed by a panel of three students with no adults present. At the end I was asked what I would give them if they gave me the job."

He then withdrew from the process, he said.

Interview-by-pupil and teacher-free zones? That'll make 'em behave!

Abbeydale used to do (don't know if they still did) a student interview panel with prospective teachers. They were usually good kids though and I don't think any of them would have said that! Besides, it's not ultimately down to the kids! One of the teachers employed by Abbeydale said that during her student-interview part of the process, the kids asked if she would be strict as that's what they wanted!

Students interviewing teachers is becoming common practice. I was Head Girl at my school (not in Sheffield) and myself and the other senior students interviewed the applicants for the post of Head. I think it is a good idea because not all kids are oiks and we should be given a voice in our school, including the staff that work there.

When I was at Lowedges there were plenty of pupils that would have loved the chance to do something like that - and not play a prank

I am a governor at a primary school. Part of the process in interviewing new staff is for children from the school council to show the applicants round the school and then do a short report on what they thought of the person (how did the applicant speak to them, were they interested in the childrens views etc) The interview panel will then take the reports into consideration when deciding on the successful applicant. We find it works very well, and the children enjoy being a part of the process.
