Yes, I remember Olive Field's place. My old mum went there and also another ladies salon half way up Bolsover Rd on the left.

I remember the bike shop next door to Olive's very well... Bill Beevers (and Beavers! ;-) if any lads remember the smutty pics/books he had in the window around 1967! :D

It was Kennington's Butchers, "One Quality... the best" and it was run by butcher Jim Kennington. I was a butchers lad there for awhile around 1970/1. What a lovely bloke Jim was. A lot of fun to work with, but it was hard work.

And I think the other butchers was actually "Asher's" run by Jack Asher. I seem to remember he felt superior to us as he had two shops. He did lovely hot roast pork sarnies on weekday lunchtimes! Yum! What a treat they were! ;)

The barbers was the corner of Hindehouse and PH - on the lower side opposite Pope's DIY.

Just remembered the bakery on the corner of Selby road and Hindehouse - was that Greggs original bakery ? - it was beutiful bread in the 70s.

As your going up hinde house lane from page hall rd on the left hand corner was the laundereete

Hi Gracie, Which Nortcliffe's do you mean? I knew Ernest Nortcliffe who had a son Norman. Ernest was involved in Boys Brigade at Reform Chapel and they moved to Ecclesfield but thats maybe 35 years ago.
