Digital SLR camera hire in Sheffield?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know somewhere that rents out Digital SLR cameras in Sheffield, preferably a NikonD40 or D50?

Thanks in advance.

I think you'd get a better response if you posted your query in the Sheffield Forum Photography section.

I've recently invested in a Pentax dSLR and the Members who frequent that section have been extremely helpful.

Good luck!

Ah thanks, didn't realise there was a photography section (been a while since I used the forum), maybe one of the mods would be find enough to move the thread?

Buy one from Argos, do the job then take it back under their return scheme.

I was looking into this a while back but depending on how long you want one for it is very expensive

Need it for this weekend, university (Hallam) was supposed to lend me one but then forgot to tell me they are closed this weekend, now I'm stuck. If it's expensive so be it.

They say they will take stuff back if it is apparently unused in the box so I don't see why it can't be done. Next buyer would never know and how would you know if it had happened to that camera, or any other item, before you got it. Work the system.

There's a drawback to hiring cameras in this country. You have to pay a full deposit for the value of kit. And hire kit tends to be the very expensive, stuff you do not use often enough to buy. Some photographers keep an empty credit card to be used for just this task.

I worked on a film doing stills a couple of years back and the produucer was going to rent a 1DsII for me to use for the job, but they wanted £6K deposit, which he thought was absurd as he had already rented film kit worth hundreds of grand and paid no deposit at all.

I rented a H3D 39+ 35mm lens and a ProPhoto flash set up [£25K+] last year in Sweden for a shoot and no deposit was needed there.
