Lincoln Hawk Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Hi, I'm about to start training for my first marathon and none of my usual running routes in Crookes, Walkley, etc are sufficiently long for the latter stages of training (and I'd rather not just run round the same circuit 8 times!). If anyone's got any suggestions of good routes, ideally relatively level but appreciating there's no such thing as "flat" in Sheffield, could they let me know? Thanks for any help!
heavenlyarts Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Fron Crookes, down the hill to Rivelein valley out to the A57, back in to Crosspool, accross to crookes is a good run (around 6 miles)
NickDuggan Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Run to crosspool up Sandygate Rd ,you can run out to Redmires even up to Stanage pole , you can run back behind the hospital. Also down to Fulwood Rd , run to Crimicar Lane and back down Sandygate Rd. Don`t forget running round the bolehills if you need to run on Grass, also why not look at the Sunday Run thread.
Lincoln Hawk Posted March 19, 2008 Author Posted March 19, 2008 Thanks for the suggestions, lookin forward to giving some new routes a try! Re: that sunday run training run thread, is there still a club doing that, as that might be good too... Thanks for the replies anyway!
PeteM01 Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Mapmyrun has a few Crookes runs, including one I used to do. Only 404ft ascent.... Good luck! Pete
CHAIRBOY Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Crookes/Broomhill/Hunter's Bar/ through Endcliffe Park and Whiteley Woods to Forge Dam/ Brookhouse Hill by Fulwood Church to Nether Green/ Ranmoor and then either to Broomhill or cut up by Tapton School to Crosspool and return to Crookes via the cemetery.
