Linux problems on my Laptop

Howdo.

I downloaded Ubuntu, burtn it to disc etc, and rebooted.

All I get is the Initial Ubuntu interface and the status bar starts to move for a second, then it stops - thats it! A few people have had problems the same as I have, cos I have a Core Duo (Centrino I think) processor in my laptop.

I did a search for to see if anyone had any problems with this processor and Kubuntu and a few people said they got it up and running no problems - apart from me!

I got the exact same as I did with Ubuntu.

My specs are:

Intel Core Duo T2050 Processor 1.66GHz

667 MHz FSB

1024 MB RAM

80 GB Hard Drive

DVD ReWriter MultiDrive

12.1" Widescreen Display (1280x800)

Microsoft Windows XP Home

224MB Intel GMA950 Integrated Graphics

1.85kg

802.11 a/b/g Wireless

Will any Linux distro work at all, or have I been wasting my time completely?

Ta. :)

Unsuccessful I'm afraid guys, on install it said starting Linux Kernel, then startin Ude or something, then stopped completely. Only got roughly 1/9 of the way through too.

What the hell is wrong?!

Sorry, it said starting "udev" and that's it. Reading an article about this now, it's definatly a hardware problem with this laptop. The article I'm reading provides me with all the info I'm gonna need to manage a successful install.

You may close this thread now. Thanks for you help, Savvy!

If you like Debian flavoured distros, the buntus won't work & you want something a bit more cutting edge try sidux.

You do need to be a bit geeky though, not exactly ideal for a starter.
