lobster Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 My mum used to call hollow meadows the blue coat school what was that all about i just did some search for somebody and one of their relatives was in there on the 1901 cenus and it was referred to as the truancy school
johnpm Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 I remember the Hollow Meadows Hospital being open in the 1960's. It appeared to be an "open" hospital as I often saw people who I am sure were patients going out for walks etc.

It was originally on East Parade in the city centre and then moved to Psalter Lane. It was a charity school for fatherless boys. Tooeg Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 I must have got that wrong. My dad was at the college of arts and crafts, about1935 onwards, where would that have been, it later became brincliffe art college but I don't know when.
