Swan_Vesta Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 One question niggles at my brain like a George A Romero zombie at a 70's bird's neck - How in the name of the sweet baby Jesus did half arsed entertainment monkeys like Peter kay, Eddie Izzard and of all people Harry, dog molesting, badger stroking, as funny as arse cancer Hill manage to get pegged before the one true Messiah: Bill Hicks? Oh, And they voted Billy Connelly as the greatest 'Stand Up' ever? Much in the same way that Ian Huntley was voted 'Best for child care 2002'. And people say that this country is dumbing down ..... It's already there

Oh, And they voted Billy Connelly as the greatest 'Stand Up' ever? Much in the same way that Ian Huntley was voted 'Best for child care 2002'. And people say that this country is dumbing down ..... It's already there Ah I saw that advertised, glad I didn't watch it if Billy won it. These 100 programmes are nasty pieces of work, you have to keep watching to the end Comedy tastes vary so much, that I don't know how they can pick the order. I'm not a fan of Billy Connolly, even though I can see why people find him funny. Similar with Eddie Izzard and (oh what's his name, bald on top, long hair at the back, recently did the Arena:confused:). Harry Hill as a stand up, I'm not keen on, but I like TV burp. In fact I'd go as far as saying it's one of the best things on TV. Different moods also dictate what make people laugh I think. I like Peter Kay, but need to be in the mood for it. Whereas Dave Allen, I could watch any time, any mood. I would vote Bill Hicks as first everytime though in this case. Bob Monkhouse would be in the top 10 too, I was luucky enough to meet him in a club I worked at. He's brilliant on stage.
discodown Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 Firstly bear in mind who voted? If it was the public then of course Connolly and Kay are going to be high up. Then think on that like all prophets Hicks was taken from us a while ago and is being forgotten and there are kids who just don't know him. For me right now Chris Rock is the best but its a travesty that Tim Vine was so low down
PinkJo Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 He is becoming a bit more popular but Michael McIntyre is my fave tame comedian.
feargal Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Who was top ten then? Anyone who should have been there? Was Chick Murray in the 100? I loved his little bobble cap.

Agree on 'comedy tastes', though - it is entirely subjective.
cressida Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 watched, for the first time 'The Young Ones' and was astonished that it was so popular, they just seemed to be shouting rude words at each all the time
Funky_Gibbon Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 watched, for the first time 'The Young Ones' and was astonished that it was so popular, they just seemed to be shouting rude words at each all the time At the time it was completely different from anything other comedy on TV though which is why it became so popular. It made fun of society at the time, was a little subversive and had absolutely no mother-in-law jokes.
Tarquin Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 watched, for the first time 'The Young Ones' and was astonished that it was so popular, they just seemed to be shouting rude words at each all the time :rolleyes::rolleyes:
NEKRO138 Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 I don't understand why people don't like Harry Hill. TV Burp is so inventive and entertaining! He even makes You've Been Framed funny and it's just people falling over at weddings!
