The Kerrang Channel

It's just full of this Emo stuff which is dreadful music, sorry Emo fans. It's just like dirgy pop music - awful, awful, awful. The 'look' amuses me but that's it.

RockWorld channel if you can get that is quite good - they have gigs on, interviews and more interesting bands.

 what a load a crap  we are not all under 15 play something good.

We need a Classic Kerrang Channel that plays Sabbath, Purple, Yes, Rush etc

:)

Unfortunately, unless a buyer is found before the 28th, the excellent DAB/internet/digital TV channel Planet Rock will close. They've played precisely that sort of stuff for years.

Not these days. A lot of the day is 'themed' (3 'hits' from this artist, 3 from that etc. - or 1 hour on Linkin fricking Park) Or rundowns of the "40 Greatest uses of hair-gel in a boy-rock band" type of things.

I agree. One of the other things as far as the video channels goes is the simple fact that if you go back 20-25+ years, few rock bands made videos. They can't play something which doesn't exist, in all fairness.

doesnt kerrang play what the viewers are phoning in for? yes agreed more choice would be nice but its just appealing to the majority who phone up and request

I was just commenting to my sister today that rock in general isn't what it used to be. Too many pretty boys with shares in hair-gel. What happened to the good old days when rock was filled with sweaty greasers with bad hygiene and denim?

You, my friend, need to discover Turbonegro. The denim demons of Norway.

They are, indeed, an excellent band. I'm particularly fond of All My Friends Are Dead

Great tune.

Fans of bands such as Poison Idea from back in the day should sample Turbonegro's earlier stuff, such as the 'Ass Cobra' and 'Hot Cars and Spent Contraceptives albums'.

If yount straight up rock n roll with guitar solos galore, go for 'Scandanavian Leather' or 'Apocolypse Dudes'.

The rock channels are all pretty awful. But that's not a new thing, nothing has changed in years!

Even as a kid, when I was really into bands like Fear Factory and Pitchshifter, the rock channels and radio stations rarely played anything other than trash like Limp Bizkit, Korn in their rap/rock phase, Slipknot and the same Metallica tracks I'd already heard a thousand times. I already had albums from Pearl Jam, Nirvana, White Zombie, Slayer and the like, I wanted to hear something different!

Mary Anne Hobbs and Phil Alexander (ex-Kerrang editor) used to present the Radio 1 Rock Show when I was about 16, and it was pretty much the same every week. Hobbs used to make it worse by constantly babbling and gushing complete nonsense at every track. She now presents the dubstep and electronic show and is exactly the same.......

Looking back though, even the stuff I saw as breaking away from the big groups was still pretty cheesy, the lyrics to almost all hard rock and metal tracks are awful and terribly cliched. I used to think bands like Pantera and Napalm Death were intense and extreme, but really that isn't the case. I still like a few bits and pieces though.
