Go Flix Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 Hi, I have a problem with my Linux OpenSUSE 10.3. Now I cannot login to KDE desktop. It just goes straight to command windows without KDE desktop shown (only small xterm window on the left top corner with black background as the wallpaper). I might have messed up with something when I tried to backup my data using my external hdd. I can put back my KDE desktop if I do ctrl-alt-F1 from the logon screen and login as root and set to "init 3" and log back on as a user by typing "startx". Anyone have any idea what went wrong? Thanks a lot in advance.
GrinderBloke Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 Think you need to set the default run level to init5
Go Flix Posted March 15, 2008 Author Posted March 15, 2008 Hi Thanks for replying. I think initially it was set to init 5. Because it fails to load the system (always kept coming back to logon page), it only runs and succeeds with set to init 3.
