American Bank in Trouble. Oh Dear !

News coming through of an American Investment Bank in trouble [ Bear Stearns ]. It says, on Yahoo news, that the problem is similar to our Northern Rock fiasco.

 

Are these the storm clouds on the horizon that we have been warned about ? Will ' Our ' Darling face the firing squad ? Will the government, en masse, get down on its bended knees and cry and beg for forgiveness ?

Well, no, I shouldn't think so, for one minute.

However, we should all be prepared for the worst. Let us recall what old Winny said when we faced an even more dangerous foe in the 1940's,

 

' And if the American dollar should invade these shores with their dastardly profiteering, then the British pound will never surrender. In fact, we will spend it in the car-showrooms ; we will spend it in the sales ; we will buy as much junk as we can. We will spend until we're skint. We will never save money. '

..........or something on those lines ?
