Re-Surfacing Roundabouts?

Howdo.

On my usual route home from work, I have to cross the Wordsworth Ave / Deerlands Ave Roundabout, and the road surface on that is the worst one I've ever seen. More bumps than a Daytona Rally!

Wouldn't be so bad in a car, but after I've gone across it on me Scootay, my intestines end up hanging out of my rectal passage! :(

Just wondered if anyone had any ideas on when the Council plan to sort it out.

I know what you mean - I came through there last night. I have reported this a couple of times over the last 5 years, nothing has been done yet.

I thought that the council were waiting till the city's road surface got down to the original cobbles as they wear better ?

Quite correct. It is dangerous.

It has been reported today.

You'll have a long wait to see cobbles appearing in Parson Cross ;)

Yes, from Deerlands Avenue to High Street Ecclesfield, Wordsworth Avenue was contructed by poured concrete in 1947. An inscription written in the wet concrete near to the Wordsworth Tavern says 'POW' and gives the date. Unfortunately this was covered by tarmac several years later.

The section of Wordsworth Avenue from Herries Road to Deerlands Avenue, including the area around the roundabout in question, was built pre-war in 1937/1938. God knows what that was made of, probably pit-head slag.
